1 The Needle-Free Access SystemSWAN-LOCK SWAN-LOCK SWabable Adaptor needle -FreeSafer Working PracticeIn recognition of the concerns over needle -stickinjuries, Codan are pleased to offer the SWAN-LOCK Needle-Free System . This is anotherCODAN product, which offers increased safety forboth patients and SWAN-LOCK enables easy addition andremoval of fluids, is simple to handle and provides asecure, effective infection barrier, reducing the risk of infection to the patient or nursing staff. Whenin long term use on a patient, the SWAN-LOCK should be replaced according to hospital to each use, the SWAN-LOCK should beswabbed according to hospital ConnectionThe SWAN-LOCK is compatible for use with bothLuer Lock and Luer Slip syringes.

2 Whilst the SWAN-LOCK will readily accept Luer Slip fittings, it is recommended that Luer Lock fittings are usedfor additional security where the patient will beunattended by the care giver. It should be noted thatneedles must not be used with SWAN-LOCK .Minimum Priming VolumeThe SWAN-LOCK adaptor has a priming volume ofonly , enabling precise dosage. This makesthe SWAN-LOCK a logical addition to any IV admi-nistration MechanismThe valve mechanism in the SWAN-LOCK adaptor automatically opens when a syringe isconnected. On removing the syringe, the connection automatically closes. This results in acompletely closed System , preventing the escapeof blood, fluid or the entry of air.
