Allen, International Security Assistance Force commander, speaks with troops gathered at Combat Outpost Jannat in southern Afghanistan onChristmas Day in Old Breed NewsThe Old Breed News October - November - December 2015 October - November - December 20153 This is my first President s Message sinceI was elected in August of this year inSan Diego. I am proud to say that the FirstMarine Division Association is doing excep-tionally well, in large part due to thetremendous help I have received fromthose who came rushing with aid when Ineeded it most. Heavy hitters, among oth-ers, who have emerged swinging, include:nJim Zalpis, who has allayed ourfears of not finding someone competentenough to handle our accounting respon-sibilities honestly and who has demon-strated the best interest for Warr & John Stevens, whotogether have given me the comfort ofknowing that the Association will not foldfor lack of revenue sources as long asthey are Cormier and Heidi Lamb, bothof whom have discovered talents theydidn t know they had and developed newones to supplement their skills for run-ning the Association Headquarters on thefast Montgomery and JimAllison who, with others of the best, brightest and fairest minds theAssociation can muster, have launched afearless frontal assault on updating theAssociation Vasquez.

6 Who relentlesslypursued better First Marine DivisionAssociation Headquarters office spaceaboard the Camp Pendleton Marine Kershaw, whose effortssecured the 75th Anniversary of theKorean War Challenge Coins underwrit-ten by General J. Michael Myatt of theMarines Memorial Club in San Brannan, Tom McLeod, andSandy Melander, who are joining theirKSAs to work in tandem for immediatelynotifying (Gary) the membership of thepassing of our members and to record forposterity (Sandy and Tom) their Sharp, who continues the heavylifting that is the task of editing the OldBreed News, all forthe thousands whocompose our dedi-cated and demand-ing Wenhold, who carries the minedetector for us, putting his past experi-ence with the Armed Forces Reuniongroup to point out where the contract landmines Fairbairn, my de factochiefadviser.

7 When things go wrong, don t betoo quick to blame him; it s usuallybecause I didn t listen to him. He plays avery important, albeit behind the scenes, we haven t had anyone stepup to take the office of Treasurer yet, inspite of Jim Zalpis pledge to handle theaccounting task, hope springs eternal. For $35 give a 1-year gift mem-bershipOur Association s weakness is declin-ing membership. Christmas will soon behere.
