In fact, at thereunion Vince Rios took the reins asPresident of the 1st Marine DivisionAssociation. I thank all the officers andmembers who worked with me to make agreat organization take this last opportunity to say thankyou to all the members of the FMDA. It hasbeen an interesting and exciting experiencefor me. I have learned many things and metmany new friends. As a lad growing uparound 1st Division Marines and hearing thetales of Australia, New Zealand, andPavuvu, I never dreamed of leading thisgreat my letter in the last issue of the OBNstated, there weresome importantchanges being pro-posed by theReorganization Committee formed at meet-ings last February.

6 The job description for theExecutive Director was reworded to complywith other nonprofits and place an emphasison fundraising. A search was made for qual-ified applicants and five people were inter-viewed by the committee. Of these, threecandidates were brought before theExecutive Committee for review. The ExComm voted 9 to 1 to accept thenew CEO job description and hire CourtneyHilborn as CEO. There was a lack of a quo-rum for the Directors Meeting, but the pro-posal was overwhelmingly ratified at themembership Hilborn is a former FamilyReadiness Officer on Camp Pendleton andthe wife of a combat wounded Marine from1st LAAR Battalion. This lady was impres-sive in the interview, and I am sure she willbe a great addition to our office staff of Juneand Heidi. With this team in place the officestructure should be secure for years to should all be thankful for the wisdom ofthe membership to support this action at theannual reunion this year in San Diego wasgreat.
