3 CALL TO ORDER/ADOPTION OF AGENDA Mrs. Hightower called the Regular Meeting to order at5:38 The Superintendent noted the additions, deletions, and amendments as outlined on the agenda. There being no objection with any of the changes, Mrs. Hightower called for a motion to adopt. Motion by Mrs. Moultrie, seconded by Mr. Boone, to adopt the agenda (as amended), was approvedunanimously. II. COMMITTEE/DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS 1. PTA Presentation Ms. Kathie Lasky, President of the ESCAMBIA county Council PTA (ECCPTA), gave a brief update on the recent and upcoming activities of the 2.

4 One Half Cent Sales Tax Watchdog Quarterly Report (Supplementary Minute Book, Exhibit B ) Mr. Ted Kirchharr, Chairman of the One Half Cent Sales Tax Watchdog Committee, gave a brief review of the committee s Quarterly Report. III. PROPOSED ADDITIONS OR REVISIONS TO SCHOOL DISTRICT RULES (Supplementary Minute Book, Exhibit C ) A. Rule(s) Adoption 1. Adoption by Resolution naming Booker T. Washington High SCHOOL s Auditorium the Theodore Bennett Auditorium as approved by the Booker T. Washington High SCHOOL Advisory Council Selection Committee, at it s May 7, 2009 meeting, and advertisement approved by the SCHOOL BOARD at its regularly schedule meeting on June 16, 2009.

5 The Superintendent read the following resolution: WHEREAS, Booker T. Washington High SCHOOL respectfully requests to name the fine arts auditorium at Booker T. Washington High SCHOOL in memory of Theodore Bennett and WHEREAS, Mr. Bennett began his love of band as a student at Booker T. Washington Junior High SCHOOL , playing the saxophone and clarinet, and then continuing his education at Booker T. Washington Senior High SCHOOL where he graduated in 1952 and WHEREAS, Mr. Bennett served as a band director from 1967 to 1982 and as anadministrative dean from 1982 to 1994 and WHEREAS, Mr.

6 Bennett led the marching Wildcats to achieve many awards and accomplishments, making a positive impact on the lives of thousands of students and coworkers during his tenure at Booker T. Washington High SCHOOL and WHEREAS, Mr. Bennett was an educator, a family man, a band director, and a dean, living by his philosophy that the future of this country lies in the proper development of the young American, and not just black or white, but all young Americans and WHEREAS, this community has profited from Mr. Bennett s influence through the lives of professionals and leaders who were molded under his tutelage NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the SCHOOL BOARD of ESCAMBIA county florida , recognizes Theodore Bennett for his selfless service and contributions to the SCHOOL District of ESCAMBIA county and to the community, and names the fine arts auditorium at Booker T.

7 Washington High SCHOOL in his honor BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution shall be spread upon the minutes of said meeting and a copy be tendered to the family of Mr. Theodore Bennett. Mrs. Hightower called for public hearing however, there were no speakers. Motionwas madeby Mr. Bergosh andseconded by Mrs. Moultrie, to adopt a resolution namingthe Booker T. Washington High SCHOOL auditorium as the Theodore Bennett Auditorium. Motioncarried unanimously. 2. Notice of Intent to Adopt Addition of SCHOOL District Rule 6Gx17 Jessica Lunsford Act Mrs.

Motion byMr. Boone, seconded by Mr. Slayton, to adopt the addition of SCHOOL District Rule 6Gx17 Jessica Lunsford Act, carried unanimously. 3. Notice of Intent to Adopt Amendments toChapter 3, SCHOOL Operating Procedures, SCHOOL District Rule6Gx17 (12) Safety Regulations and Procedures SAFETY REGULATIONS AND PROCEDURES SAFETY, SECURITY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT, HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATIONS AND PROCEDURES (12) Student AccidentInsurance Student group accidental insurance may be offered for student protection.

9 Insurance for athletes shall be provided by the parents and/or the SCHOOL . The SCHOOL BOARD authorizes the Superintendent to purchase catastrophic student accident insurance that shall provide coverage for catastrophic injuries at SCHOOL or SCHOOL related events for all students who are seriously injured at school3 or at a SCHOOL related event. The District will also make available studentaccident insurance for purchase by all parents or legal guardians. Students who participate in interscholastic athletics, including cheerleading, are required to purchase student accident insurance provided through the SCHOOL district before they are allowed to participate.

10 A) Selection of Student Accident Insurance Providers: The Risk Management Department will coordinate the Student Accident Insurance Program and select qualified student accident insurance providers on a periodic basis. b) Voluntary Student Accident Insurance Program: Principals shall distribute a brochure or application from the BOARD approved student accident insurance provider to all students during the first week of the SCHOOL year. Principals shall maintain a supply of student accident brochures or applications at their SCHOOL and provide them to new students during the year and to any other parents or students upon request.
