2 It is a38 bed, mixed gender, Therapeutic community offeringa residential substance misusetreatment a socially responsible company, the Shardale Groupendeavours to not only provide a supportive treatmentprogramme but also to support individuals to continue theirrecovery journey post-treatment. This is achieved byparticipation not only in our own in-house aftercareprogramme but also through Shardale s support, promotionand engagement with mutual aid fellowship and othercommunity support programme details can be found at ourwebsite ProgrammeShardale offers a personalised treatment programme, enablingparticipants to make informed treatment choices which bestsupport their own individual recovery journeys. Our approach isbased on the philosophy that ultimately it is the individual who isbest placed to determine their own recovery needs. However, ourexperience highlights that in the early stages of treatment most programmeparticipants are unaware of the depth of their recovery needs and alsodemonstrate a history of poor decision making.

3 The Shardale programmeis designed to develop the skills necessary for each participant to beginto make informed choices and after an initial phase of treatment(approximately three months) individuals are encouraged to take onmore decision making responsibility for themselves and increasinglycontribute to their own personalised recovery Shardale Therapeutic programme consist of seven core values whichare designed to support participants to make positive life choices andfunction more productively in all aspects of their everyday life. The sevencore values are:1. Realisation and understanding2. Re-connection and communication3. Processing and integration4. Personal responsibility - Choice Theory5. Building resilience and relapse prevention6. Re-establishing order and practical everyday living support7. Consolidation and psycho-educational inputWithin each core value there are specific exercises or assignments thatevidence progression through the programme.

4 As course participantsmake improvements in the areas of physical, emotional and psychologicalhealth, and with the support of their keyworker, they begin to makeinformed decisions, progressively developing and adopting their ownpersonalised addition to undertaking the 'core value' component of the programme,participants will also attend the psycho-educational sessions that runevery evening from 7pm to These informative and participatorygroups are designed to complement the Shardale 'core values and forthe initial phase of the treatment are a socially responsible company, the Shardale Group endeavours tonot only provide a supportive treatment programme but also to supportindividuals to continue their recovery journey post-treatment. 5 The development of every care plan is the result ofjoint-working between the individual concerned and their plans are reviewed every three weeks. In the later stages of thetreatment programme, care plans will be formulated to ensure a successfultransition back into the wider care plan is initially developed based on the information receivedby the Admissions Team during the referral and assessment process. Thisinformation is gathered from the referring authorities, community treatmentproviders and most importantly from the applicant themselves wheninitially interviewed by a member of the Admissions Team. Where thereare mental health professionals involved, care plans will comply with anyCare Programme Approach (CPA) programme participant will retain a copy of their agreed care planwhich they keep in their personal development log. Theaftercare meetings are facilitated by a staff member and are designedto reinforce the tools and skills necessary to sustain recovery and todevelop their peer support networks in the community. To access theaftercare programme, participants must continue to adhere to an conjunction with the aftercare programme there is opportunity to alsoundertake voluntary work at the Shardale projects.
