1 Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5)Technical DatasheetService. Quality. ApplicationsAero-engine components, Airframe components, Marineequipment,Offshore oil & gas equipment, Powergenerationindustry, Autosport components, DescriptionTi-6Al-4V (Grade 5), classed as an alpha-beta alloy, is themostwidely used of the high strength titanium alloys. Thealloycombines its good mechanical strength and lowdensity ( kg/dm ) with excellent corrosion resistance inmany media. Grade 5 titanium is fully heat treatable(solution heat treatment plus aging) in sections up to25mm and can be employed up to around 400 ELI (Grade 23) has a reduced oxygen content( max.)
2 Compared with Grade 5. This confersimproved ductility and fracture toughness with somereduction in mechanical strength. Uses include fracturecritical airframe structures and for offshore AlloyCorrosion ResistanceGrade 5 titanium offers excellent resistance to manymarine and offshore oil & gas environments. Titanium andits alloys resist a wide range of acid conditions being highlyresistantto oxidising acids, possessing useful resistance toreducing acids and offering good resistance to mostorganic acids at lower concentrations and should not be used with red fuming nitric acidandis rapidly attacked by hydrofluoric acid.
3 The addition palladium (grade 24), ruthenium (grade 29) palladium and nickel (grade 25) significantlyincreases corrosion resistance in reducing acid chlorideandsour environments, raising the threshold temperatureto well over 200 Specifications UNS R56400 ASTM B348 Grade 5 BS TA11 AMS 4911 AMS 4928 MIL-STD-2154 AvailabilityBar, wire, sheet, plate, extrusions, forgings, Composition(Bar to ASTM B348 Grade 5)Weight (%) Properties(Bar to ASTM B348 Grade 5)MinimumTypicalUTS, MPa8951, PS, MPa828910 Elongation, % in 4D1018 Reduction of area, %25-Elastic modulus, GPa-114 Hardness, HRC-36 Charpy V-notch impact, J-24 Technical AssistanceOur knowledgeable staff backed up by our resident team of qualified metallurgists and engineers, will be pleasedtoassist further on any technical (typical values) Weldability - fair Specified bend radius for < in.
