2 Title I, Part A is a federally funded program under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The purpose of Title I under the ESSA is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments. There is a strong focus throughout the law on parent and family engagement notification and involvement. Parental Involvement The term parental involvement means the participation of parents in regular, two-way, and meaningful communication involving student academic learning and other school activities, including and ensuring that: Parents play an integral role in assisting their child's learning.

3 Parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child's education at school. Title I Schools have three goals: To help children do better in school and feel better about themselves. To provide teachers support to be able to meet the needs of all students. To help parents understand their children and become involved in their children's education. What can I expect from Title 1? Notifications sent home to you about the school's policies in an understandable language and format Meetings and information sent home to inform parents about our curriculum, parent involvement plans, how funding is spent, and your rights as parents to be involved Parent representation on the School Governance Team and PTA.

4 What can I expect from Title 1? An open door policy in providing parents with state standards, curriculum, and how parents can monitor student progress. A School-Parent Compact at Parent- Teacher Conference in the Fall. What is the School-Parent Compact? The compact is a agreement between the school, the parent and the student to share in the responsibility for improved academic achievement. Compact shared at Parent/Teacher Conference (Sept.). Title I Funding * Money is used towards salaries for support staff, purchase of instructional materials, supplies, books, professional learning, substitute teachers for certain staff development opportunities, supplement field trip money, online educational subscriptions and services and parent involvement (paper and supplies).

5 WHAT IS MY ROLE IN SUPPORTING. MY STUDENT'S SUCCESS? As the parent of a child in a Title 1 School, you have the right to: 1. Be engaged in the planning and implementation of the parent and family engagement policy and program at SRE. 2. Ask to read the progress reports on your child. Request information about the professional qualifications of your child's teacher(s) and/or paraprofessionals including the degrees and certifications held, and whether the teacher is certified in their respective area of instruction Help to decide if Title 1 is Meeting your child's needs, and offer suggestions for improvement (Parent Feedback and Parent Survey's). Ask about your child's school designation under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Title 1, Part A (SRE is a Schoolwide Title 1 School).

6 Help develop your school's plan for how parents and schools can work together (Parent Feedback and Parent Survey's). WHAT IS THE SCHOOL'S ROLE IN SUPPORTING. MY STUDENTS SUCCESS? SRE is responsible for the following actions: 1. Involve parents in the planning, review, and improvements of Title 1 programs, including the School-Parent Compact and School Parent and Family Engagement Policy. 2. Develop jointly, with the parents of participating students, a school-parent compact focused on academic achievement. 3. Inform parents in an understandable language and format. 4. Offer parent meetings at various times or in various formats. 5. Provide information to parents about the state standards, curriculum, and assessments and how parents can monitor their child's progress.

7 6. Build parent capacity by coordinating and integrating parent programs and activities (PTA Events, Parent Workshops, Parent-Teacher Conference). Parent & Family Engagement Parent Teacher Conferences (twice a year). All Pro Dad (Monthly). PTA Meetings and Events Parent Surveys and Feedback Lunch & Learn Workshops Volunteer Opportunities (Classroom, Field Trips, Class Projects, Book Fair and the Media Center). SRE All Pro Dad Parent and Family Engagement Stay Connected THE SCOOP REPORT. The Weekly Scoop Report will be delivered every Friday via email.
