5 Theremay be asbestos dust on these components which can be dangerous if you touch it or breathe it. Wear an approvedfilter mask and gloves. Never use compressed air or a dry brush to clean brake components. Dust may be removedusing an industrial-type vacuum cleaner. Clean dust or mud away from brake components with water and a wet, softbrush or cloth. Failure to follow this warning may result in serious illness or death to SYSTEMDo not allow grease to contact brakeshoe linings. Wipe excess lubricant from the area of brakeshoe linings to avoidgrease soaking the linings. Brakeshoe linings can absorb grease and oil, causing early glazing of linings and verypoor braking action.

6 If brakeshoe linings become soaked, have Organizational Maintenance replace them. Failure tofollow this warning may cause brakes to malfunction, resulting in serious injury or death to AND UNCOUPLING TRAILERAll personnel must stand clear of towing vehicle and trailer when coupling and uncoupling trailer. Failure to followthis warning may result in serious injury or death to personnel or damage to trailer is not coupled to towing vehicle, ensure that wheels are securely chocked. Failure to do so may causetrailer to roll, resulting in serious injury or death to personnel or damage to CLEANING SOLVENTDry cleaning solvent, P-D-680, is toxic and flammable. Always wear protective goggles and gloves, and use only in awell-ventilated area.

7 Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothes, and DO NOT breathe vapors. DO NOT use near openflame or excessive heat. The solvent s flash point is 100 F-138 F (38 C-59 C). If you become dizzy while usingcleaning solvent, immediately get fresh air and medical help. If solvent contacts eyes, immediately wash your eyesand get medical SYSTEME nsure that intervehicular cable assembly is disconnected from towing vehicle before performing maintenance onelectrical system. Failure to do so may result in electric shock or 9-2330-376-14&PWARNINGEYE PROTECTIONWear eye protection when driving heads off drive screws when replacing data plates. Failure to follow this warning mayresult in eye injury or loss of COMPONENTSN ever crawl under equipment when peforming maintenance unless equipment is securely blocked.

8 Keep clear ofequipment when it is being raised or lowered. Do not allow heavy components to swing while suspended fromlifting device. Exercise extreme caution when working near a cable or chain under tension. Failure to follow thiswarning may result in severe injury or death to not stand under trailer while slinging operations are underway. Failure to follow this warning may cause seriousinjury or death to tube, spring assembly, and axle are heavy and awkward to handle. Use caution, provide adequate support,and use assistance when removing and installing. Failure to follow this warning may result in that spring assembly is supported before removing axle. Spring assembly will fall without support.

9 Failure tofollow this warning may result in serious injury or death to assistance when lifting tire and wheel. Failure to follow this warning may result in serious injury to COMPONENTSWhen checking for improperly adjusted brakes or dry wheel bearings, cautiously feel each wheel hub and burns can result from touching an overheated PRESSURES pring inside inertia brake actuator is under pressure. Use care when disassembling inertia brake actuator. Failureto follow this warning may result in serious caution when repairing airbrake chamber. Spring inside airbrake chamber is under tension.
