An usher will be happy to show you the way. Children s Worship We offer a time of worship and learning for children ages 3 to Kindergarten. Chris Kirby TODAY S THEME: If Christ really is the head of our body, then we serve like He served. This morning we will see how we teach with His words and love with His love.. From Lord, Make Me a Servant! Do you have an idea of the needs of the Church ? If you are like most churchgoers, you do or, at least, you think you do. Maybe it s new carpet? Ministers? Preaching style? Songs? Are these aesthetic things what the Church really needs?

The fact is that these are worth considering, but they are not what the Church needs most. In fact, the Church s greatest need is not about is about the worshipper! It might be hard to accept, but WE are the greatest need of the Church . The Church needs servants! Tusculum needs servants! If we are the body of Christ , then we are needed more than anything else. Do you like to be served? I think we all like to be served. This can be seen in the many ways that we pamper ourselves. In fact, if you dine out regularly you might even be an expert on what good service is. We should have a firm grasp of what service is all about, right?

The problem is that when we think of service, it is usually focused on what others do for us. This problem extends into the Church , too. So how, then, can we have an outward-focused spiritual service? James encourages the reader of his letter to be doers of the word and not hearers only. Too many times we find ourselves hearing and not doing. It reminds me of a story about a fisherman. He knew how to fish. He had everything he needed to be a good fisherman. He had poles, nets, bait, and even a really nice boat, but this fisherman had a problem. You see, for all his preparation, he never caught anything. Not one fish. Not one; not ever. And do you know why he never caught a fish?

What do you think? The answer is easy: He never went fishing. He had all the knowledge and all the equipment, but he never got into the boat; he never left the dock. Are you ready to be doers of the word and not hearers only ? If so, then it s time to BE the body of Christ ! It s time to develop the heart of a servant. In Romans 12, we get an awesome picture of what the heart of a servant should look like. It involves presenting your body as a holy living sacrifice, renewing your mind, understanding your part in the body of Christ , and using your gifts/talents that have been blessed upon you. This is a different picture of service than what we re used to.

It is centered on God and others rather than self. Can you have a passion to serve in this way? Grace and peace! Will new baby! Congratulations to Wesley and Stacey Groves on the birth of their son, Barrett Wesley, born Wednesday, January 24. He weighed 9 lbs. 12 oz. and was 22 inches long. Barrett has two proud sisters, Maddie and Camden. fellowship meal Our first Wednesday Night Fellowship Meal for this year will be Wednesday, January 31, from 5:30-6:30 The menu will be Breakfast.
