Providing Highway Safety and Security through Excellence in Service, Education, and Enforcement Important information Please Read Please note, while reviewing the 2017 Traffic Crash Facts annual report the statistics produced in this document are static in nature and are subject to change as new and updated Crash reports are received after the closeout date of November 7, 2018. Additionally, the 2016 statistics reflect static values reported in the 2016 Traffic Crash Facts annual report with a closeout date of September 25, 2017 and the 2015 statistics reflect static values reported in the 2015 Traffic Crash Facts annual report with a closeout date of September 15, 2016.

2 While reviewing this publication, the Florida Traffic Crash Statistics Summary may not reflect the same totals as additional sub-tables throughout this document. This is due to the nature of Crash reporting and fields that can be reported with one to many selections. For example, a Non-Motorist such as a Bicyclist can be reported with up to two separate Safety Equipment selections. This may increase the number of reported injuries and fatalities when looking at a specific Safety Equipment value. The information contained in this Traffic Crash Facts annual report is extracted from law enforcement agency reports (HSMV.)

However, only those crashes that meet the criteria above, which are commonly referred to as codeable', are included in this report. The information contained in this report was produced by Lexis Nexis, Inc., in partnership with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles and the source is Florida's Integrated Report Exchange System (FIRES) database.
