5 White Grass is situated on over 2,500 acres of private, state, and federal lands within the Cabin Mtn. range of West Virginia s high Allegh-enies. We pick up much of our snow off the Great Lakes whenever strong northwesterly winds drop out of Canada. Originally built as the Weiss Knob Ski Bob and Anita operated 4 rope tows, a primitive snow making system, and a small cafe. XC skiers moved in 1979 restoring the building, Trails , and slopes. The Randall Reed family owns much of the property we ski upon and we thank them for allowing us to do so.
6 Enjoy your skiing in Canaan Valley. CHIP, LAURIE AND ALL THE Trails30 km of Trail are regularly groomed for both classic and freestyle skiing. We also groom slopes for Nordic downhill. A fleet of modern 4 stroke snowmobiles and a Pisten Bulley snowcat do much of the work. Most of our groomers are from Yellowstone Tracking Systems, the world s fences, grooming and wind driven snowstorms combine efforts generating a twisty 3 mile/300 foot vertical skiing paradise that outlasts the woods GladesWe are located at an abandoned alpine ski area and run by a group of backcountry telemark skiers.
7 Hundreds of hours, mostly from volunteers, are spent each year nipping the NATO Breakfast Bowl, Cathedral Glades, and the Jack Frost woods.
