We learn about God from the Bible. Main The Bible is God s book. Story You will need a Good News Version to be your class Bible. Use this Bible as your visual aid. Have the class Bible with you. Jake, a puppet or soft toy, whispers in your ear. Jake wants to know what this book is.

3 Jake, this is called a Bible. And this is the Bible that we have at Sunday School. (Put Jake up to your ear again). Jake wants to know what the Bible is. Well, Jake, it would be good if you listen to today s story because we are gong to talk about what the Bible is. (hold up class Bible) This is the Bible. The Bible is the best book ever the most important book of all! The Bible is God s book. The Bible is true. We learn about God from the Bible. In the Bible, God says that he made us, and also that he made everyone. In the Bible, God says that he made the sea, the sky and the land, and that he made the animals and the plants. In the Bible, God says that he made everything. In the Bible, God says that he loves us, and that he loves everyone.

4 We can thank God for his book, the Bible, and that we can hear it read to us. We can hear God s book, the Bible, read to us at Sunday School and we can also hear God s book, the Bible, read to us at home. unit 3: GOD SPEAKS Lesson 1: GOD S BOOK, THE BIBLE 4 You could address Jake, the puppet, before you begin the Conclusion, eg. The children colour the pictures in the first two columns and draw themselves in the third column (or the back of the page). 2. Book collage Before the Lesson , print pages 6 and 7 (preferably onto different coloured pages) for each child, and cut out the books on page 6 and place them in an envelope for each child.

6 Cut out the books on page 7. Add the flower book to the envelope but keep the other two books until needed in the Lesson . You will need a piece of A3, or similar sized, paper for each child. In the Lesson , the children first colour their page (scribble across the page with thick crayons) then paste their books (from the envelope) onto their page (the children can use the glue if you wish as it doesn t matter where the books are pasted). Once completed, the teacher pastes the books from page 7 somewhere on each child s page so that they can be clearly seen. 3. Booklet Before the Lesson , print page 8 for each child and fold horizontally and then vertically to make a booklet. There are lots of books is the front page.
