Stains or surface soiling may be removedwith a dampened cloth or sponge containing as little water as possible.

2 Heavier soiling may beremoved with a damp cloth or sponge that has been dipped in a very mild detergent solution. Itis recommended that a to 1% solution (1 tablespoon per gallon of water) of a non alkalinedetergent should be used. Sonatone tiles can be wet wiped and scrubbed on a regular basis without should never be immersed or soaked in water. Abrasive Cleaning materials and methodsmust not be used, particularly on soiling is widespread and severe, specialist contractors using proprietary methods andchemicals should carry out Cleaning . It is strongly recommended that a trial area is cleanedfirst to ensure no detrimental effect on the Ceiling panel or TilesWhen necessary, panels and tiles can be re-decorated by spray, brush or roller, using a "nonbridging" emulsion paint that will not clog fissures or perforations in the panel or tile face.

3 Thisensures little or no loss of acoustic performance. The paint used must not compromise thesurface spread of flame classification for the panel or or tiles should be removed from the grid, laid flat and thoroughly cleaned beforeapplication of paint. As little paint as possible should be used. Panels or tiles should remain flatuntil completely dry before being replaced in the :\Word\C& on 27/08/03 10:04 AMUSG Ceiling systemsCleaning & Maintenance InstructionsCeiling grids, Metal Ceiling systems & Speciality SystemsReplacement is preferable to re-decoration, however, when necessary grids can be re-decoratedinsitu, using an air drying polyester based paint.

4 Tiles must be removed from the grid prior to painting. Paint should be applied by spray using asteady sweeping motion applying the paint evenly to all components. The minimum amount ofpaint possible should be applied to prevent drips or patching. Grid must be completely drybefore panels or tiles are panels or tiles are removed from the Ceiling to allow access to the void for Maintenance ,they should be stored flat in a clean secure area under ambient conditions, and protected toprevent damage until replacement. When replacing panels or tiles, ensure that the tile is returned to the same orientation to ensureconsistency of pattern and shade. USG panels and tiles are marked with a directional arrow onthe back surface to further information or advice, please contact our customer services department.
