7 Like a stone vessel in the centre of theMediterranean Sea, the Maltese archipelago, floatingbetween Europe and Africa, blends its unique beautywith seven thousand years of history, starting withmegalithic temples built one thousand years beforethe the crossroads of the Mediterranean, thistiny country s past has been molded by Phoenicians,Carthaginians, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Normans,Aragonese, French and finally, the British. TheKnights of St. John took Malta through a golden agein culture, architecture and the stares you in the face everywhereyou visit on the islands, making Malta and its sisterislands Gozo and Comino great destinations forhistory buffs.

8 Still mostly undiscovered by the NorthAmerican tourists, Malta is a favourite vacation placefor Europeans seeking the islands crystal waters, redsand coves, picturesque villages and invite you to explore with us this lovelydestination, where the tradition of hospitality isenhanced by a fascinating past, superb natural beauty, and the most welcoming people you will ever s presentation was full of fascinating facts anda wide range of images, including some aerial shotstaken from a heliocopter. One was left with a realsense of the history and beauty of this ancient part ofthe world, as a true travelogue s Note:Aplogies that the notes on this greatpresentation are limited to those provided by Robert, but my electronic notes were lost when my programcrashed.

9 Next time, it is good old fashion pen andpaper, although even some of those notes got lost ormisplaced during our move to Potluck & TriosAs usual, we were treated to a fun evening of to John Stevensonfor hiswinning entry (Beagle worried about other dogesfinding his bone in the bushes). Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped makeour annual potluck another successful event whichwas enjoyed by all. See end for Stone featured photographer inOutdoor Photography CanadaOutdoor Photography does profiles of importantCanadian photographers and our very own KasStone was the feature profile in their Winter2010 issue which is now on the newsstands.
