1 WATER LEAK front FLOOR AREATSB 07-14-6 FORD:2005-2008 MustangWater Leak Testing Procedure PressurizedISSUEC abin Some 2005-2008 Mustang vehicles may exhibit adifficult to diagnose WATER leak in the front pressurize cabin, open the trunk andarea. This may be caused by loose grommetsremove the FLOOR carpet. Remove the plastic tailand/or sealer skips around the cowl area , loosepanel cover. Remove side carpet push pins andA-pillar window weather stripping retainer,move the carpet aside. Locate the body ventsmisaligned body harness grommet through thein the lower rear corners of the trunk (rear offirewall, or misaligned body harness grommet fromwheel wells) and tape them off. Close the passenger the blower motor on high. Turn airrecirculation to off mode. Close windows andACTION doors. Open the hood and spray soapy waterFollow the Service Procedure steps to correct thealong body seams/grommets, the A-pillar/fender and hood hinge area ,and check for PROCEDURENOTEW ater Leak Testing Procedure Non-PressurizedDO NOT REMOVE THE DASH OR THE DASHC abin a garden hose equipped with a showerWater Leak Inspection/Repair head attachment, or similar device, run wateronto the vehicle being sure to direct WATER overInspect the following areas for visible signs of leaksthe roof ditch moldings, side window weatherand follow the appropriate repair , and windshield/cowl panel area .

2 Whilewater is being applied to the vehicle, have that the plastic cowl panel grill is evenlyassistant inside the vehicle verifying the locationseated against the windshield and not the WATER warped, replace with current service the cowl panel grill. Refer to WorkshopDO NOT REMOVE THE DASH OR THE DASHM anual (WSM), Section 501-02, and inspect cowl panel mount grommet installationand pinch weld sealing. WATER may enter theNOTE cowl channel, through the cowl panelTO AID DIAGNOSIS, THE CABIN CAN BEgrommets/seals or forward pinch weld, causing a sloshing sound and/orwater leaking down the dash kick panel area . 4 If any are missing, or thebulkhead on the driver/passenger are damaged, replace as the grommet into the a small bead of TA-2 Motorcraft making sure the grommet is fully seated andRepair Urethane Adhesive/Seam Sealersealed. If there is any aftermarket wiringaround all ten (10) grommets. (Figure 1)installed through the grommet, reroute andseal as necessary.
