Welding PP-R Hot and Cold Water Systems - Borouge

Introduction Hot and cold Water Systems produced from PP-R materials such as Borouge RA130-E are lightweight and easy to assemble and install. Jointing can be carried out using standard socket and butt fusion techniques. Socket fusion Welding Pipes and fittings made of Borouge RA130E are quick and easy to joint using socket Welding :- Socket fusion Welding can be carried out by hand for diameters up to 50 mm and using a simple machine for larger diameters. Cut the pipe to the correct length and mark the penetration depth on the pipe Enter the pipe and fitting into the heating tool which should be set at a Welding temperature of 250 270 C Hold them in position for the specified heating time. Borouge recommends that the parameters described in the German guideline DVS 2207 Part 11(1) are followed (see Table 1 below).

1 Introduction Hot and cold Water Systems produced from PP-R materials such as Borouge RA130-E are lightweight and easy to assemble and install.

2 When the heating time has elapsed the fitting and pipe should be pulled out sharply from the heated tool Quickly push the components together until the stop or mark is reached without twisting or turning. Hold the welded joints in position during cooling according to the specified time in Table 1. Electofusion Welding Electrofusion fittings can also be used and can be particularly useful when installing in very restricted places or for extending or repairing an existing system . Again we recommend that the procedures specified in the German guideline DVS 2207 Part 11 are followed to obtain high quality joints.

4 Butt fusion Welding is usually carried out on larger diameters only ( 110 mm) since a small reduction of the pipe bore occurs due to the formation of a weld bead. The Welding surfaces are heated to the Welding temperature by means of a heating plate and joined under pressure after removal of the heating plate. The heating plate temperature shall be 210 10 C. The different stages of the butt Welding process are illustrated in Figure 2 and the recommended times for heating, change-over and jointing are summarized in Table 2.
