West Nile Virus and Other Arboviral Diseases Los Angeles County Epidemiology Report #7. October 4, 2019. This week, 5 new West Nile Virus (WNV) human cases and the first WNV-related fatality were documented by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LAC DPH) (Table 1). All are symptomatic cases with the most recent onset occurring 9/20/19 (Figure 1). Most cases this year reside in the Metro and South Bay regions of the county. The number of infections identified this season has been below the previous 5-year average (Figure 1). However, additional cases are expected to occur through the end of the year. The last onset date in the previous WNV season occurred 12/2/18. The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has reported 128 human cases and 3 deaths in the state.

•This week, one new West Nile virus (WNV) human case was documented in the South Bay region of Los Angeles County (LAC) for a total of 9 in 2019 (Table 1).
