5 ISO 9000 Quality Management Systems Fundamentals andVo c a b u l a r y defines a process as a set of interrelated or interactingactivities which transforms inputs into outputs. (See figure on nextpage.)In a company, the output of a process often becomes the input toanother downstream process. 6 AS9100 is an international standard contain-ing requirements for establishing and main-taining a quality management system forthe aerospace assure high levels of customer satisfaction, aerospace industry orga-nizations need to produce, and continually improve, safe and reliableproducts that meet or exceed the requirements of customers and regu-latory authorities. A quality management system is set up by an orga-nization to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction and continualimprovement, focusing on common requirements and the reduction ofvariation and waste in the supply chain.

7 This is done by establishing a quality policy and quality objectives, and establishing the means to achieve those than specify requirements for your final product what youproduce AS9100 focuses further upstream on the processes orhow you produce.
