2 If you wish to enjoy your own special wine in our restaurant, there is a corkage fee of $ per bottle. It is with great pride and pleasure that we present this list. The Angus Barn The most recent vintages are subject to change. 2 The late Thad Eure Jr., who exemplified the meaning of hospitality, saw great potential in having a world class wine list which eventually led to the wine Cellar. When North Carolina changed from a dry state in 1979 to liquor by the drink, it was then that Thad s instincts in developing the wine list proved fortuitous for the Barn. After Thad s untimely death in 1988, Alice and Van were challenged with completing Thad s dream of building a world-class wine cellar.

3 The coveted wine Spectator s Grand Award, won in 1989, is the highest achievement a restaurant can receive for its wine list. The award is given annually to very few restaurants worldwide that show an uncompromising devotion to the quality of their wine program. These restaurants must offer a minimum of 1600 selections and feature a serious breadth of top wine producers; outstanding depth of mature vintages; a selection of large format bottles; excellent compatibility with the restaurant menu; and superior organization, presentation and wine service. Currently the Angus Barn holds 25 consecutive Grand Awards that grace the hallway spiraling down to what was once a cluttered basement where wines were stored.

4 Currently, only 80 plus restaurants through out the world claim the distinction of the Grand Award. In May of 1991, we officially opened the 27,500 bottle wine cellar with an accompanying dining room, Alice s Room, named in Alice s memory. In 2007, the Cellar expanded to include a 2nd dining room, Thad s Room, named in Thad s memory and a wine Cellar Kitchen. 3 Red dots indicate items currently out of stock. Certified wine Sommelier Henk Schuitemaker, often referred to as The wine Guy has been with the restaurant for 26yrs. He is responsible for maintaining the wine cellar and wine list. Due to his diligence and hard work, the Angus Barn has maintained the Grand Award since 1989.

5 Henk s responsibilities also include the wine education of the entire service staff, public wine tastings and a special wine course that he teaches for future Sommeliers. He has cultivated an entire team of wine professionals. Please feel free to ask Henk or one of our Sommeliers to stop by your table to help with your wine selection. The staff listed below passed the Court of Master Sommelier s first level course. The staff with an asterisk have become Certified Sommeliers through the Court of Master Sommeliers. Both levels require a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication. We are proud to introduce them to you. Fresh and crisp on the palate with a pleasant mouthfeel. White wine 3 Castello di Tassarolo, Cortese di Gavi 2013 Piemonte, Italy This elegant wine has a refined nose with nuances of flowers and fruit. A traditional Gavi, that is fresh, light and easy to drink. 4 Landon Chartier, Melon de Borgogne 2015 Muscadet Sur Loire, France It is light gold in color, with an open expressive nose and supple palate.

9 This Muscadet has aromas of exotic ripe fruits and a long rich finish. 5 Molino a Vento, Grillo 2014 Sicily, Italy This elegant Grillo is straw colored with olive green hues and displays a complex mix of tropical fruits and Mediterranean citrus. On the palate it is fresh with a natural crisp acidity, and combines with hints of yellow melon and tropical fruit. 6 Calheiros Cruz Branco, 2015 Malvasia Fina, Gouveio & Rabigato Douro, Portugal This wine is intense, well balanced and surprisingly smooth, with brilliant, harmonious flavors of citrus, and a long fruit driven finish. 7 Klet Brda, Colliano, Ribilla Gialla 2015 Goriska Brda, Slovenia This is a one of a kind varietal that is known to be found mainly in the Collio border regions of Italy and Slovenia.

10 The wine is full and lively with notes of lemon, peach and grapefruit. The finish is full and lively with a gentle flavor of acacia and vanilla. Adventure Page Red wine 8 La source du Rualt, Cabernet Franc 2015 Saumur-Champigny, Loire, France This varietal is famous for the intense freshness of its fruit and hints of the green pepper notes. 9 Molino a Vento, Nerello Mascalese 2014 Sicily, Italy IGT Distinctly Sicilian, this wine has a beautiful ruby color and an intense aroma with hints of wild berry preserves and baking spice, it is elegant on the palate with good natural structure and excellent harmony.
