3 Allison and HISTC HISTC HISTC HISTC HISTORORORORORYYYYY 3A & A Truck and Auto Center,Inc., (trade name aatac ) wasincorporated in 1978 by James Jr. The business waslocated at 3012 Little Rock Roadin Charlotte, North major business at that timewas auto and truck sales. Thebusiness was actually a continu-ation of the A & A Used Car andParts, founded by James , Sr. in 1961. A & A alsobought, installed, and sold dumpbodies, hoists, tow truck and car-rier bodies at that time. The car-rier bodies were designed by and manufactured for A& A Truck and Auto Center by adump body manufacturer andsold under the trade nameAATAC, an acronym for the le-gal s tow truck bodieswere manufactured by a nationalmanufacturer until 1982.

4 In1982, Mr. Allison designed a newwheellift and had these wrecker/ wheellift units manufactured forAATAC by a local aatac s contract withits carrier manufacturer expiredin 1983, a plant was leased at8600 Wilkinson Boulevard inCharlotte to begin manufactureof aatac carriers. The firstcarrier units were produced byAATAC within 60 days. Fourmodels were initially introducedand were extremely wellreceived in the market 1985, Mr. Allison inventedand patented a new stylewheellift and began manufactur-ing the new design, along withtow trucks and carriers, at theWilkinson Boulevard that period in 1985, aatac s units have been manu-factured in its own plant.

5 Landwas purchased by Mr. Allison in1987, specifically for a new plantsite. Construction began in new home of aatac wascompleted and occupied in thefall of 1989. The new facility,which includes administrativeoffices and manufacturing plantis located at 4000 Sam WilsonRoad in Charlotte, North Caro-lina. The new plant was designedto allow production to triplelevels achieved in the previousplant. aatac s product lineshave increased from the originalfour models to now more thanone hundred.
