Congratulations to Kiernen C. on winning the Snack Packs for Backpacks logo contest on behalf of the RMS Entrepreneurial Skills Academic Team: Mason L., Anna R., Aliyah R., Gabby W., and Mrs. Kanable, Advisor. The team looks forward to making the design into a patch for the bags that will e used for snack program for the 2018-19 school year. Kiernen was presented with a backpack of school supplies in his classroom on Monday, June 4th. His design was selected from close to 100 submissions handed in by elementary and middle school students from April and May.

Thank you to all of the students who participated in the design contest. Medications & Prescription Medication Forms The Richland School District will again have Ibuprofen, Tylenol, and cough drops/lozenges available at school for your child if the time comes when they may need them. Of course before any student can receive medications of any form, we must first have parent/guardian permission. Included in this newsletter is the combined form for non-prescription and prescription medications. Also, if your child will be taking prescription drugs during the school day, the Richland School District Medication Administration form needs to be completed by both the parents and the physician and returned to the Middle School before we can administer the drugs to your child. Also, prescription drugs need to be in their original container--not an envelope, a plastic bag, or another medicine bottle.

If you should need additional medication forms, contact the Middle School Office. Any questions about this procedure may be directed to the School District Nurse at Richland Center High School (647-6131) or the Middle School (647-6381). LUNCHES The Richland School District uses a computerized lunch system. It is a debit account system, where each family has one account, and each student in the family draws from it when they eat from the breakfast, lunch, or ala carte line. Each student has a personal ID number that, when keyed in, draws funds from their family account. Students at the Middle School key in their own numbers on the serving lines. A deposit must be made into your family account before your children eat any meals. Deposits to your family account can be made centrally to Nellie Tyl, the food service director. Each building secretary will also collect deposit envelopes from the students and send them to Ms.

Tyl at the High School. (When writing a check for the lunch system, make it payable to Richland School District. Please do not include any other school fees, etc., with your lunch check.) Students may check on the balance of their account on the lunch line daily, If a family account is allowed to reach a negative $ , no further purchases will be allowed, and students will need to bring a sack lunch until the balance is paid up and a deposit for future meals is made. A simple rule of thumb to follow is: If there is not money in your family account, it shouldn t be used. At RMS, students may choose to participate in the breakfast program, the hot lunch program, the ala carte program, or bring sack lunches. We have milk available in a vending machine. Breakfast price is $ daily unless a student is eligible for free or reduced prices ($ daily). Lunches are $ per meal unless a student is eligible for the free or reduced lunch program ($ daily).

Free and reduced lunch application forms are included in this newsletter. To receive free or reduced price meals for your children, you must complete an application and return it to the school. (This must be done annually.) We cannot approve an application that is not complete. You are responsible to pay for your children s meals until the application has been approved. Please complete an application and return it to the school as soon as possible, so it will be in effect by the first day of school. TRANSPORTATION Bus Service Kobussen Bus Company (647-4446) will be available at the Back to School Night to answer any bussing questions you may have. It is our goal, as always, to provide the safest bus service possible for our students. It is very important that we have good behavior on our busses and that the students follow the rules. Parents, you can help by talking about and supporting good bus conduct with your child.
