Watanabe MD General information: Constipation is defined as infrequent, incomplete or difficult evacuation of the bowels and is subjectively defined in comparison to what is normal for that individual; it is not based solely on the frequency of stool. Constipation is a common cause of morbidity in palliative care patients and can severely compromise quality of life. Palliative care patients are at greater risk of Constipation because of an increased number of combined factors and not only as a result of opioid usage.
