425V rifle RELOADING DATATest Specifications/ComponentsFirearm Used:Savage 12 VSSB arrel Length:26"Twist:1 x 9"Case:FederalTrim-to "Primer:Fed 210 MRemarks:Virtually every cartridge ever adopt-ed by the military has beenpounced on by wildcatters, and NATO (.308 Winchester) isno exception. Much like its forerunner, the .30/06 Springfield, the .308spawned an immediate family of car-tridges that became factory , for example saw the potential of the .243 and .358 and wastedno time adding both to their stable. Other .308 based wildcats, such asWarren Page s .25 Souper and the .270-308, attracted some interest, butwere never standardized. Another was the 7mm-308, simply the .308 casenecked down to accept 7mm bullets. Other than being a tad shorter than thecommercial version, this was very close to the final form Remington eventual-ly the cartridge had been designed and rifles chambered for it priorto 1960, not enough commercial interest was generated to really get therenamed Remington 7mm-08 off the ground.
