A GOOD PRACTICE GUIDE SUSTAINABLE FOREST MANAGEMENT, BIODIVERSITY and LIVELIHOODS The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) is a global agreement that addresses biodiversity, and has 192 Parties today. It was established in 1992, with three main objectives: 1. the conservation of biodiversity; 2. the SUSTAINABLE use of its components; and 3. fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising out of the utilization of genetic resources. The Secretariat of the CBD (SCBD) was established to support the goals of the Convention.
