Aluminium AlloyData Sheet6063 Revised October 2013 Page 1 of , silicon alloy offering goodmechanical properties commonly available in awide range of extruded sections. Its readyextrudability enables thin walled and intricatehollow shapes to be produced: flats, angles,channels and hollow circular and squaresections are all standard profiles. 6063respondswelltopolishing,chemicalbrig htening, anodising and alloys to 6063 are 6061, 6005 and6005A, all of which are possible ResistanceExcellent in a wide range of atmosphericenvironments and it is also acceptable in manymarine environments. This alloy is magnesium content is low enough that itdoes not suffer from the stress corrosioncracking that can affect alloys with more thanabout 3 % Mg, such as TreatmentAlloy 6063 is hardenable by solution treating(522 C followed by water quenching) andageing (precipitation) heat treatment.
