As much as these good relationships do exist, there has also been a long history of disputes and other problems. This Subcontract agreement is aimed at enhancing already established practices by ensuring obligations and responsibilities are identified up front, thereby avoiding later disputes which can be costly in both time and goodwill. The agreement was developed by a working group of representatives from the Registered master Builders Federation and the New Zealand Specialist Trade Contractors Federation Incorporated (formerly the New Zealand Building Subcontractors Federation).
