Cooperating Deer Processors and Taxidermists, High-risk Parts Dumpsters, Deer Head Collection Containers Updated November 17, 2020 Why are there restrictions on the movement of High-risk parts? High-risk parts contain the highest concentration of CWD prions and pose a risk of spreading CWD to other deer and elk if exposed. Therefore, regulations prohibit the removal or export of the High-risk parts of cervids harvested, taken, or killed, including by vehicular accident, from within any Disease Management Area established within the Common-wealth. Regulations also prohibit the importation of the High-risk parts into Pennsylvania from any CWD positive state.
