Penrod, Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness Purpose: In accordance with the authority in DoD Directive , DoD INSTRUCTION (DoDI) , and the April 10, 2019 Deputy Secretary of Defense Memorandum, this issuance: Establishes policy, assigns responsibilities, and provides procedures for protecting personnel from overexposure to electromagnetic fields (EMFs) between 0 hertz (Hz) and 300 gigahertz (GHz).

(2) Electromagnetic interference effects on electronic medical devices implanted in personnel (e.g., pacemakers, metal implants, stents, shunts, wires). (3) Research approved by an institutional review board operating pursuant to Part 219 of Title 32, Code of Federal Regulations, and Section 980 of Title 10, United States Code.
