Equatorial sea surface temperatures (SSTs) are below average across the central and eastern Pacific Ocean. La Ni a is likely (~85-95%) through Northern Hemisphere winter, with a transition to ENSO-neutral expected during the spring.
3.4 SST Model Outlook Figure provided by the International Research Institute (IRI) for Climate and Society (updated 18 February 2022). A majority of models indicate La Niña is expected to continue into spring 2022 and then transition to ENSO-neutral.
