The new rules also remove the need fora landlord to specify that a tenancy must end on the last day of a rentalperiod; unless the tenancy started on a periodic basis without any initialfixed term where a longer notice period may be required depending onhow often the tenant is required to pay rent (for example, if the tenantpays rent quarterly, they must be given at least three months notice, or, ifthey have a periodic tenancy which is half yearly or annual, they must begiven at least six months notice (which is the maximum)).
