FDI IN FIGURES . April 2013. According to preliminary estimates, global FDI flows have declined in 2012 by 14% from 2011 to USD trillion in spite of the 22% increase in the last quarter but remain comparable to global FDI flows in 2010. OECD investments abroad declined by 15% to USD 1100 billion in 2012 accounting for 77% of global FDI. (80% in 2011) and OECD attracted only USD 686 billion of FDI (or 48% of global FDI) representing an annual decrease of 21%. Investment to and from the European Union, in aggregate, declined by around 25%. China became the first FDI destination in 2012 and the United States maintained its position as the leading investing economy.
