Future NavyMay 2017 1 The Future NavyMay 17, 2017 Over the past year there have been numerous studies, conducted by the navy and severalother organizations, that have explored what the Future fleet should look consistent conclusions emerge from this body of work: First, the nation needs a more powerful navy , on the order of 350 ships, that includes a combination of manned and unmanned systems. Second, more platforms are necessary but not sufficient. The navy must also incorporate new technologies and new operational , as we increase our naval power, our focus cannot be on some distant goal decades inthe Future . The navy must get to work now to both build more ships, and to think forward -innovate - as we go.
