BACKGROUND: The CHART of ACCOUNTS is the coding structure that defines CUNY s operations in financial terms and serves as the foundation for the GENERAL LEDGER and financial reporting. Accordingly, the GENERAL LEDGER s financial encoding structure and values (its CHART of ACCOUNTS ) must be maintained accurately to ensure the integrity of the university s financial reporting.
