Research indicates that a strong system of Higher Education is a significant contributor to the country s ability to compete in the global marketplace and is Critical to our economic strength, social well-being, and position as a world leader. Colleges and universities are complex organizations facing difficult and multifaceted challenges. One of those challenges is who will serve as the next generation of leaders. With the significant turn-over in leadership at colleges and universities expected in the coming years, attention must be paid to identifying and developing well-qualified and prepared leaders.
