This action research project was conducted to improve Reading Comprehension with second grade and third grade students. The teacher researchers intended to improve Reading Comprehension by using higher-order thinking skills such as predicting, making connections, visualizing, inferring, questioning, and summarizing.
use of higher-order thinking skills. Without a solid foundation of reading skills the teacher researchers feel children will struggle throughout their schooling and adult life. By learning the best comprehension strategies and how to best teach these strategies to the students, the researchers hope to provide the solid foundation needed to succeed.
