Inconel alloy (nickel-chromium-iron) alloy 600 (UNSN06600 ) is a standard engineeringmaterial for applications which require resistance tocorrosion and heat. The alloy also has excellentmechanical properties and presents the desirablecombination of high strength and good limiting chemical composition of Inconel alloy 600 is shown in Table 1. The high nickel contentgives the alloy resistance to corrosion by many organicand inorganic compounds and also makes it virtuallyimmune to chloride-ion stress-corrosion confers resistance to sulfur compounds andalso provides resistance to oxidizing conditions at hightemperatures or in corrosive solutions. The alloy is notprecipitation hardenable; it is hardened andstrengthened only by cold versatility of Inconel alloy 600 has led toits use in a variety of applications involvingtemperatures from cryogenic to above 2000 F(1095 C).
