The mission of the Bureau of Reclamation is to manage, develop, and protect water and related resources in an environmentally and economically sound manner in the interest of the American public.
b. “Expansion joints , which are unbonded surfaces or planes that structurally separate adjacent structures, eleminate or greatly reduce compressive stresses in concrete that result from thermal expansion, which can crush, buckle, or crack parts of the structure” (Bernstein et.al., 2009).
