MLGW s Backflow Testing Procedures and Guidelines All Backflow devices for irrigation and multi-tenant commercial facility systems must be tested annually. Fire protection systems require semi-annual inspections. Only licensed or master plumbers can repair, replace, remove or install Backflow devices. A Testing company can determine if a Backflow device passes or fails inspection. The Memphis and Shelby County Office of Construction Code Enforcement requires a permit for any job where a Backflow device must be repaired, replaced, removed or installed. The following companies and individuals have successfully completed all the requirements as set by MLGW to test Backflow devices.
