HIICAP counselors educate and assist people with Medicare and their families to address and resolve issues and help them to understand their Medicare and other health insurance. They provide accurate, unbiased health insurance information. What are the various roles in HIICAP? A HIICAP Coordinator is responsible for volunteer recruitment, screening, training, and providing ongoing support to the HIICAP counselors. Coordinators also provide public presentations on a variety of topics and are responsible for HIICAP reporting to the New York State Office for Aging (NYSOFA). HIICAP counselors have skills that enable them to help clients choose health insurance options that are the best for them.
