Vineyard Wind 1 became the first fully approved commercial offshore wind energy project in the United States. After 3 years of review, Avangrid and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners’ 800-MW Vineyard Wind 1 project received a Record of Decision, indicating the approval of the project’s COP in May 2021 (BOEM 2021b).
