This should be read in conjunction with the following documents; Clinical guidance developed with the Royal College of Physicians (RCP Toolkit 10). The Directory of Ambulatory Emergency Care (2016) that sets out the underlying principles of AEC and details 53 clinical scenarios that are appropriate to be managed in an AEC service.
