Overview Environmental Protection Agency s (EPA s) current management plan includes the following eight Phthalates : dibutyl phthalate (DBP), diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP), butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP), di-n-pentyl phthalate (DnPP), di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), di-n-octyl phthalate (DnOP), diisononyl phthalate (DINP), and diisodecyl phthalate (DIDP). In developing this plan, EPA considered the toxicity of Phthalates , their prevalence in the environment and their widespread use and human exposure. Phthalates are produced in high volume, over 470 million pounds per year (EPA 2006).
