Physical Therapy for Reverse Total Shoulder ReplacementThis handout has information about your Reverse Total Shoulder Replacement and the exercises you will need to do after your surgery. Early Post Surgery Rehab (First 6 Weeks After Surgery): To protect, repair and maintain your range of motion, it is important for you to do the following during this time period: No active motion of Shoulder . Wear sling at all times. Only move elbow, wrist and hand while wearing sling. (See exercises below) If your doctor says it is okay, you may do the exercises marked with an asterisk (*) below. ExercisesPassive Elbow Range of Motion1. Sit in a chair with your hands clasped. Use your good arm to bend the elbow of your surgery arm, bringing your hands to your Pause and then take your arms back down to the starting Repeat 10 times.
Physical Therapy for Reverse Total Shoulder Replacement Alternative of Shoulder External Rotation 1. If sitting/standing using theraband for external rotation exercise is too difficult you may do the exercise lying on your good side with the arm on the surgery side closest to ceiling. 2.
