The most basic and popular approach attaches shutters inside of the window opening directly to the window jamb (INJ). This method requires sufficient depth to rotate the louvers and a solid wood jamb to attach hinges. For drywall openings with adequate depth, the INH method is recommended. Shutter units on shallow windows install to the outside of the opening with a frame (OMF). Plantation wood shutters can be ordered painted, stained, or unfinished.
