This publication summarises the results of 50 selected research projects on genetically modified organisms (GMO), co-funded by the European Commission A decade of under the Framework Programmes for research and Innovation, and conducted in the period 2001 - 2010, EU-funded including a summary of the latest Eurobarometer survey 2010 on Life Sciences and Biotechnology. GMO research The projects presented here address areas of major public concern in relation to GMO: environmental impact of GMOs, food safety aspects, risk assessment (2001 - 2010). of GMOs and risk management and finally aspects of genetic modification of plants and/or microorganisms related to biomass and biofuel production. The publication is complemented by a number of highly valuable contributions of distinguished scientists, renowned experts in their respective fields.
