ReevingCommon Applications ot HOIST ReevingsReeving refers to the configuration of the wire rope, blocksand drum of the hoist. Reeving elfects headroom, littingspeed and capacity by increasing the hoist's mechanicaladvantage. Beeving also determines if the hoist has lateralhook movement or true vertical three terms used in Reeving arc', single, double andparl. Sing le or double refers to the number of ropes cominglrom the drum. Parl deals with the mechanical advantaoegained by multiple Reeving . For example. with two ptrtsingle Reeving (2PS) the load is distributed over the twoparts, and the mechanical advantage doubles the capacityof one part Reeving but reduces by one half the lifting orlowering speed of the applications require that the load not move right orleft of the hoist centerline while being lifted. This is calledtrue vertical lift and requires that the hoist be double reev-ed.
