Revelation CommentaryThe book of Revelation is the revealing of Jesus Christ. First centuryChristians are encouraged in it, as they see Jesus Christ on the throne ruling the nations (1:5), which was difficult to see in the midst of a horrific persecution, which to the natural eye, appeared not to be the case. All that was seen in the natural was this persecution being carried out by a beast on the throne. The Apostle John sees what s really going on, as he is in this persecution, the tribulation (1:9), and is given heaven s perspective. John is encouraged as he sees judgment and vindication (Luke 21:22), which is soon to be poured out upon the persecutors.
