Summary Student Motivation . An Overlooked Piece of school Reform A. lmost everyone knows someone who overcame early hardships to achieve an impressive level of success in school and later life. Most of us also know young people with great early promise who were lackadaisical students and floundered after leaving school . Often the crucial factor that accounts for cases like these is the students' own motivation to learn. Motivation is a central part of a Student 's educational experience from preschool onward, but it is has received scant attention amid an education reform center on Education Policy agenda focused mainly on accountability, standards and Graduate school of Education tests, teacher quality, and school management.
