Background Mobile broadband is now rapidly becoming more important as users demand Internet-based services on the move as well as at home and in the office. In addition mobile broadband is now the cost-effective way to deliver the broadband Internet to rural communities in most cases. New figures released by ITU today indicate that, by end 2014, there will be almost 3 billion Internet users, two-thirds of them coming from the developing world, and that the number of mobile-broadband subscriptions will reach billion globally.
