Weingart University of Amsterdam Carnegie Mellon University This study provides a meta-analysis of research on the associations between Relationship conflict, task conflict, team performance , and team member satisfaction. Consistent with past theorizing, results revealed strong and negative correlations between Relationship conflict, team performance , and team member satisfaction.
Teamwork in organizations is increasingly the norm, yet the challenges of working effectively in teams are considerable. One challenge is conflict—the process resulting from the tension be-tween team members because of real or perceived differences (De Dreu, Harinck, & Van Vianen, 1999; Thomas, 1992; Wall & Callister, 1995).
